Neil deGrasse Tyson was mentored by none other than Carl Sagan. At age 17, Neil deGrasse Tyson was accepted to Cornell University and shortly after, he received a letter from Carl Sagan, who invited him to visit and tour the astronomy lab. Although Tyson later on decided to attend Harvard University, he stayed in touch with Sagan throughout his life.
